The briefing will include an overview of the investigative highlights of the Boston Marathon Bombing investigation and will include discussions of digital media evidence collection, trial preparation and testimony. The talk will also provide insight to the audience regarding the digital media handling challenges and investigative strategy surrounding the events of April 15, 2013 and the Boston Marathon Bombing Investigation while highlighting the lessons learned and after-action response.

Kevin L. Swindon



Kevin is recently retired after over 20 years as a Special Agent with the FBI and is currently the Corporate Vice President of Global Security for Charles River Labs. Charles River provides essential products and services to assist pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, government agencies and leading academic institutions around the globe accelerate their research and drug development efforts and has over 13,000 employees with 80 facilities in 23 countries.

During his FBI career, he was assigned as the Supervisor and Program Coordinator for the Boston Division’s CYBER Criminal and National Security Intrusion Programs and was the first Laboratory Director of the newly formed New England Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory. He has traveled extensively overseas in support of both significant criminal and national security investigations. He was first assigned to the Newark, NJ office of the FBI and testified as the government’s computer forensic expert in the Boston Marathon Bombing trial. He has obtained his BS in Industrial Management from the University of Lowell and his MBA from Northeastern University and completed a Master’s of Science in Finance from Boston College.
